PCIT International World Congress 2018

6/26/2018

I'm beyond excited to be at the first PCIT International World Congress being held in Schweinfurt, Germany. I had the honor to present a mini clinical skills workshop on my adaptation of PCIT for traumatized youth--"Trauma-Focused PCIT (TF-PCIT):  Combining PCIT and TF-CBT." My presentation was one of two scheduled during the first time block after opening remarks and the Keynote speaker. The workshop was well-attended, and I had the opportunity to meet many PCIT providers from around the globe after I presented. A little side note:  I had submitted my proposal for this workshop in German but was asked to present in English. When I started my presentation, I did my introduction in both German and English. Despite the normal kind of anxiety that comes along with presenting in front of a room of professionals, I had fun sharing my experiences with this adaptation and leading attendees in hands-on activities I use in these sessions. Thank you to my PCIT colleagues who assisted with handing out materials and capturing this photo of me presenting!

I spent the rest of the day attending workshops on the use of PCIT with Autism, coaching for engagement with Autism, learning about pro's and con's of PCIT vs. use of stimulant medication as a first choice of treatment for ADHD, and reducing drop-out. The rest of the program looks amazing as well. I'm looking forward to learning more about the many facets of PCIT occurring around the world and networking with other professionals in the PCIT International community.
I've included with this post the convention program as well as the slides from my presentation:

Dr. Mattingly Nominated for Bridge to Light Award for Family Counseling

6/8/2018

What an honor to be nominated for the Bridge to Light Award in Family Counseling! While I didn't win, it sure felt good to be recognized at the state level for the work I do! So much light and gratitude to whomever nominated me.

It was also nice to take a break from the busy-ness of life to enjoy hearing speakers while having lunch with colleagues I don't normally get to see. It's rare to have an opportunity to gather with administration, program directors, and therapists from other sites all at the same time. It was a great day :-)
